Dickov hopes for Wabara impact
Oldham manager Paul Dickov believes new signing Reece Wabara can bring the best out of other members of his squad.
Wabara's arrival on loan from Manchester City was only confirmed on Saturday morning but he was thrust straight into the Latics' line-up to face Notts County at Boundary Park in the afternoon.
The 20-year-old played at right-back in the 2-2 draw, allowing Dickov to utilise defender Cliff Byrne and midfielder Lee Croft as he wished.
He told Oldham's official website: "As Connor Brown is suspended, we are light in that area (right-back). We went down to Portsmouth, we felt we got the best out of Cliff Byrne being a centre-half.
"We also get the best out of Lee Croft with an attacking full-back behind him, somebody with pace. And as we saw against Notts County, the pair (Croft and Wabara) worked well together down the right."
On Wabara's qualities as a player, Dickov added: "I think you saw against Notts County that not many players are going to outrun him. He is quick, good in the air, an athlete and wants to play football."
