Oldham boss Paul Dickov said his side could have scored four goals in the first half of their 2-0 win at Crewe in League One on Tuesday.
The visitors went ahead in the second half when James Tarkowski headed home Lee Croft's corner at the far post, before Matt Derbyshire sealed the points with 11 minutes to go at Gresty Road.
Dickov said: "I'm a lot happier that the players have got the result they deserved and they've shown what they're capable of.
"I knew there was pressure on me from certain quarters but I put pressure on myself, I always did as a player and there has been no one more disappointed than me around the club lately.
"I believe in this group of lads and I knew they could turn it around.
"How we didn't come in 4-0 up at half-time I'll never know, but credit that they kept going and I'm really happy with a clean sheet too."
