Disappointing exit for Evans

Dan Evans saw his bid to reach the main draw of the Australian Open ended by Marton Fucsovics in Melbourne.

Evans, the British No 2, had looked in good form as he breezed through the opening round of qualify on Wednesday.

However the 26th seed never got going in his second-round clash against the former junior Wimbledon champion from Hungary as he lost 6-4 6-1.

There was little to choose between the two until the wheels came of Evans' challenge in emphatic style.

From 4-4 in the first set, Fucsovics went on to rattle off seven games on the bounce en route to victory.

Two double faults helped hand the first set to Fucsovics, while he then broke in the second and fourth games to book his place in the final qualifying round.
