Djokovic makes Toronto semis

Novak Djokovic was one of four players to win two matches on Friday as the rain-affected ATP Rogers Cup got back on schedule in Toronto.

With Thursday's singles play completely wiped out by the weather, seven third-round matches had to be completed before the quarter-final programme could get under way.

Djokovic started off with a straightforward 6-4 6-4 victory over American Sam Querrey and was then pushed harder before prevailing 6-3 3-6 6-3 against veteran German Tommy Haas.

The world number two will face fellow Serbian Janko Tipsarevic in the semi-finals.

Fifth seed Tipsarevic enjoyed two straight-sets triumphs on Friday, overcoming Croatia's Marin Cilic 6-2 6-4 in the third round before sinking Spain's Marcel Granollers 6-4 6-4 in the last eight.

Saturday's other semi-final will be between eighth seed John Isner and 14th seed Richard Gasquet.

American Isner defeated 12th-seeded German Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-7 (3/7) 6-4 6-4 in the third round before seeing off Canadian number one Milos Raonic - the beneficiary of second seed Andy Murray's injury withdrawal - 7-6 (11/9) 6-4 in the quarter-finals.

Frenchman Gasquet upset fourth-seeded Czech Tomas Berdych 6-4 6-2 early in the day before ousting American Mardy Fish 5-7 6-1 6-2.
