Dolgopolov makes early exit
Sixth seed Alexendr Dolgopolov has been dumped out of the Royal Guard Open in the first round after losing to Daniel Gimeno-Trever.
The Ukrainian lost the first set on a tie break but fought back to take the second 6-3 before surrendering the third 7-5 to fall at the first hurdle.
The only other seed in action on Tuesday was Argentinian Federico Delbonis who eased through against Pablo Cuevas.
The eighth seed took the first set 6-3 and never looked back as he claimed the second 6-4.
Spaniard Albert Ramos made an early exit as he fell 6-3 6-4 to Argentina's Martin Alund while countryman Pablo Carreno Busta was a 6-0 3-6 6-1 victor over Italy's Filippo Volandri.
Aljaz Bedene fought back to beat Stephane Robert 2-6 6-3 6-3 and Japan's Taro Daniel overcame Brazilian Thomasz Bellucci 6-3 6-3.
In Tuesday's other first round matches Santiago Giraldo beat Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo 6-4 6-2 while Paolo Lorenzi claimed a 6-2 6-1 win over Alejandro Gonzalez.
