Andrea Dossena has swapped Napoli for Palermo on an initial six-month loan deal, with there an option for a permanent move to be made at the end of the season.
The midfielder has opted to make a fresh start after falling out of favour in Naples.
Dossena was linked with several Serie A sides once it became clear that he was looking for a move, but it is Palermo who have been able to put an agreement in place.
"The transfer is that of a six-month loan with the right to sign the player at the end of the season," said the club in an official statement.
Former Liverpool winger Dossena is now looking to make an immediate impact with his new employers, with it possible that he could make his debut in Sunday's trip to Napoli.
"I had three fantastic years at Napoli, as Walter Mazzarri wanted me and really counted on my support," he said.
"Unfortunately, with Zuniga's arrival I found less and less space, so I decided to look elsewhere.
"I want to thank Palermo for deciding to focus on me. Their tactics suit my characteristics and I hope they will take up the option to make my move permanent, but the club will decide that in June."
