Doyly on duty at Catterick

Elite Racing's promising youngster Doyly Carte returns to a familiar haunt at Catterick on Wednesday.

Trained by Donald McCain and home-bred by the popular club, Doyly Carte made a winning bumper debut at the North Yorkshire course last January and looked very good on her recent hurdling debut at Musselburgh, when she scored by 11 lengths.

There is, however, an early inspection due to the threat of overnight snow.

Elite's manager, Matthew Budden, said: "This race has been the plan since Musselburgh and we just hope it's on.

"Donald is very happy with her, she's in good form and we're looking forward to seeing her take the next step.

"I believe there are one or two Listed mares' options around Christmas, so we'll get this out of the way first and I'd imagine they could then come into consideration."

Jason Maguire's mount faces a seemingly simple task, despite carrying a penalty, with perhaps the unraced Malcom Jefferson mare Mary Milan the most likely to cause an upset as the remainder have shown little form to date.
