Draw upsets Whittingham

Cardiff midfielder Peter Whittingham felt his side deserved to beat Stoke but was satisfied to salvage a point in a 1-1 draw.

Marko Arnautovic's spot-kick opened the scoring for the visitors when Kim Bo-Kyung was harshly adjudged to have fouled Peter Odemwingie.

The Welsh side battled back and levelled with a Whittingham penalty and were denied a winner when Juan Cala's header was ruled out for offside.

It was a result that left Cardiff two points from safety with three games remaining and Whittingham told Sky Sports: "We controlled the game. Stoke had a spell in the second half but we controlled it.

"We had some nice chances that perhaps we should have put away but keeper David Marshall was brilliant. On balance we deserved more but a point is a point.

"It's not ideal, we know that. We've got two away games that will be huge for us."
