Drummond to captain Scots side

Scotland have named their squads to take on Canada in the Intercontinental Cup and World Cricket League matches.

The Scots will be captained by Gordon Drummond and will feature contracted players Matthew Parker, Richie Berrington, Gordon Goudie, Majid Haq and Ryan Flannigan.

Also included are several players who have been plying their trade south of the border in the shape of seamer Alisdair Evans, Preston Mommsen and Calum MacLeod.

The Intercontinental Cup will take place at Uddingston from July 4-7, while the two World Cricket League matches will be held at the Citylets Grange, Edinburgh, on July 9 and 11.

Kyle Coetzer joins the squad for the two World Cricket League matches in the capital, with Middlesex's Josh Davey named in both squads.

Drummond said: "We are looking to continue where we left off in the UAE in the Intercontinental Cup, where we had a comfortable victory.

"Canada will obviously be challenging opposition, but in our conditions we are optimistic.

"Another victory would push us close to the top of the table and give us a shout at reaching the final once again."

He added: "In the World Cricket League, after a couple of disappointing results against the UAE we will be looking to get back to winning ways with two matches against the same opposition.

"These are obviously massive matches if we are going to reach the 2015 World Cup.

"We have a decent record against Canada at home and, with the strength and depth we have in both squads, are confident of coming out on top."

Simon Smith, Ewan Chambers and Moneeb Iqbal feature in the Intercontinental Cup squad, before being replaced by Craig Wallace, Coetzer and Fraser Watt in the World Cricket League squad.

Scotland squad: Gordon Drummond (captain), Ryan Flannigan, Matthew Parker, Alisdair Evans, Richard Berrington, Majid Haq, Simon Smith, Gordon Goudie, Preston Mommsen, Calum MacLeod, Ewan Chalmers, Jan Stander, Moneeb Iqbal, Joshua Davey.
