Ducks up and running
The Anaheim Ducks claimed a 4-3 victory over the Dallas Stars in Game One of the Western Conference Stanley Cup play-offs at Honda Center.
Kyle Palmieri, Ryan Getlaf and Mathieu Perreault handed the Ducks a 3-0 lead in the first period before Matt Beleskey added their fourth. The Stars pulled three goals back through Jamie Benn, Colton Sceviour and Tyler Seguin to trail 1-0 in the First Round series.
In the Eastern Conference play-offs, the Pittsburgh Penguins struck back from 3-1 down to defeat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3 to lead 1-0 ahead of Game Two on Saturday.
Jussi Jokinen, Beau Bennett, Matt Niskanen and Brandon Sutter scored for the Penguins, while Jack Johnson, Mark Letestu and Derek Mackenzie were on target for the Blue Jackets.
In Wednesday night's other play-off match, Dale Weise scored an overtime winner as the Tampa Bay Lightning overcame the Montreal Canadiens 5-4 to take a 1-0 lead ahead of Game Two on Friday night at Tampa Bay Times Forum.
