Duerr fails doping test
Austrian cross country athlete Johannes Duerr has been suspended from the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics after testing positive for EPO.
Duerr, who finished eighth in the men's skiathlon on February 9, was due to be one of the seeded starters in the final cross country event.
EPO, or recombinant erythropoietin, belongs to class S2 on the prohibited substances list.
An official communication from the International Ski Federation's (FIS) technical delegate on Sunday morning confirmed Duerr's withdrawal, saying: "The IOC disciplinary commission decided on 22 February 2014 that Johannes Duerr is suspended from competing in the men's 50km mass start free".
