Dufner into world's top 20

Jason Dufner is into the world's top 20 for the first time after beating Ernie Els in a play-off at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans.

Dufner's first PGA Tour victory came with a birdie on the second extra hole after Els missed a six-foot chance to win when the pair went into sudden death.

Els actually climbs more places than Dufner - 63rd to 40th compared to the American's 30th to 20th - and that should guarantee him a start in the US Open on June 14-17.

South Africa's former world number one did not compete in The Masters after falling out of the top 50.

Luke Donald came third and regains top spot in the rankings from Rory McIlroy, who plays for the first time since Augusta at the Wells Fargo Championship this week.

Austrian Bernd Wiesberger is into the sport's top 100 following his five-stroke victory at the Ballantine's Championship in South Korea.
