Dundee U v Motherwell preview

Dundee United midfielder Ryan Gauld is struggling to shake off a hip injury ahead of tonight's Scottish Premiership clash with Motherwell.

United defender Gavin Gunning is back in contention for the Tannadice encounter and is likely to be in the squad.

The Irishman has missed several games with a knee injury but has been back in training ahead of the visit of his former team.

A victory for United will move them to within six points of their visitors.

Motherwell manager Stuart McCall has major selection problems as he takes his squad to Tayside.

Defenders Fraser Kerr and Simon Ramsden, goalkeeper Lee Hollis, forward Craig Moore and midfielder Paul Lawson will definitely miss out.

Midfielders Keith Lasley and Stuart Carswell will face fitness checks, while front man Henri Anier will have a scan on a shinsplints problem on Monday.

But McCall insists he has no qualms about giving youth a chance against United.
