Dundee U v St J'stone preview

Dundee United midfielder Ryan Gauld is likely to return to the squad for St Johnstone's visit to Tannadice on Wednesday.

The 18-year-old has missed United's last three matches after suffering a hip injury in the 3-2 victory over Kilmarnock on 15 February.

Defender John Souttar is still recovering from an Achilles injury, while on-loan defender Curtis Good is sidelined for at least four weeks with a hip strain.

United go into the match having not beaten their opponents in the last six meetings, and having failed to score against the Perth side this season.

St Johnstone striker Steven MacLean is suspended for the Scottish Premiership clash against United.

MacLean picked up a red card in the last league match against Aberdeen but was eligible for Saturday's 3-1 Scottish Cup win over Raith Rovers at Starks Park.

As a result he misses the match against in-form United, who go into the Tayside derby on the back of a 5-0 victory at Inverness on Sunday.

Frazer Wright and fellow Saints defender Tam Scobbie have ankle injuries, while midfielder Murray Davidson is also absent because of a knee problem.
