Dunne: Blades deserved victory

Joe Dunne conceded Colchester deserved nothing from their clash with Sheffield United and that the visitors deserved their 1-0 win.

The Blades dominated the game but had to wait until the 87th minute for their breakthrough, substitute Chris Porter converting from the penalty spot after Freddie Sears had fouled Ben Davies in the area.

The result meant the U's remained only three points above the Sky Bet League One relegation zone, although they do have three games in hand on 21st-placed Bristol City.

"It would probably have been unjust to Sheffield United had we got a point but we would have taken it, based on how poor we were," said Colchester manager Dunne.

"Overall, we deserved nothing from the game and it was the right decision to give a penalty.

"It's just disappointing - as badly as we played, you don't want to lose that way.

"We just need a break at the moment. We haven't played well - we managed to stay in the game somehow but it's gone against us."
