Duo return for England Women

England Women’s skipper Charlotte Edwards has been boosted by the return to fitness of bowlers Katherine Brunt and Natasha Farrant for this summer’s international fixtures against India and South Africa.

England play a one-off Test against India in August followed by a three-match Royal London One-Day International series as part of the first round of new ICC Women's Championship.

The team will then take on South Africa in three NatWest Twenty20 Internationals at the start of September.

Berkshire's Heather Knight has been named as vice-captain for the matches which will see Warwickshire's Rebecca Grundy compete for a starting spot following some impressive performances at the ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh this year.

Kent seamer Farrant missed the World T20 through injury while Brunt has been sidelined since England's Ashes victory in Australia at the turn of the year.

Farrant has been named in the squad to face South Africa while Brunt is set to play in both that 20-over series and the preceding one-day international series against India.

Nottinghamshire medium pacer Sonia Odedra earns her first call-up to the Test squad but Sussex's Georgia Elwiss has been ruled out for the rest of the summer with a broken hand.

Clare Connor, ECB Head of England Women's Cricket, said: \"The three squads for the series against India and South Africa have been selected from a position of real strength and I am delighted that both Katherine Brunt and Natasha Farrant will return to international action this summer.

\"Appointed to the role of vice-captain, Heather Knight now has the opportunity to learn from the most experienced international captain in the world as she works alongside Charlotte Edwards to help lead the England women's team at the start of a new professional era for the women's game.\"
