Dutch and Middlesex frustrated

Rain at Lord's on Sunday prevented Holland, the shock Group A leaders in the Clydesdale Bank 40, from having the chance to beat Middlesex.

No play at all was possible, despite a break in the weather in mid-afternoon which encouraged the teams to warm up on the outfield and the MCC groundstaff to peel back the covers and start to finish their pitch preparations.

But, before the two sides could toss up and name their line-ups, rain began to fall again and, at just before 5pm, the match was abandoned.

Both Middlesex and Holland take one point apiece, giving the Dutch a total of nine points this season as they sit atop Group A table having won four of their previous five games.

Middlesex, who are the only team to beat Holland in this year's CB40 so far after winning the first meeting between the two in Voorburg a fortnight ago, now have five points from their five group matches.
