Dutt dedicates draw to Lukimya

Werder Bremen coach Robin Dutt said his side had played for Assani Lukimya after a late equaliser earned them a point against Borussia Monchengladbach.

Dutt pulled Lukimya off after less than half an hour of the 1-1 draw on Saturday after two glaring mistakes, the first of which led to Raffael putting the visitors in front.

However, the Bremen coach refused to criticise the full-back and said the way his team fought back in the second half showed how much they wanted to get a positive result for him.

"Everybody played for him," Dutt told Sky TV.

"It really hurt me to have to substitute him. Mistakes are part of the game and anybody who knows him will know how sorry we all are.

"Maybe that is the reason why we played such a strong second half because we all did not want him to be stood there after the game knowing we had lost it because of his mistake.

"The team turned things around for him."

But Gladbach forward Max Kruse bemoaned his side's failure to win for the fourth game in a row.

"It beggars belief for us to end up drawing a game like this," he said.

"It's got nothing to do with luck, it's purely us shooting ourselves in the foot."
