Eagles battle back for victory

The Newcastle Eagles rode a late surge to grab a 73-70 away win at the Plymouth Raiders on Sunday night.

The second-placed Eagles suffered just their second league defeat of the season at Worcester on Saturday night and were in danger of enduring a miserable weekend when they trailed 48-56 heading into the final period.

But a 13-0 run inspired by Kareem Maddox, whose double-double included 24 points and 11 rebounds, hauled the visitors ahead and ensured they moved two points adrift of leaders Leicester Riders.

The Surrey Heat moved up to third with a 91-74 win at the Durham Wildcats while the Cheshire Phoenix overcame the Glasgow Rocks 90-79.
