Edinburgh hails Exiles showing
Justin Edinburgh was full of praise for his fledgling Newport side following their hard-fought 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe.
Defender Andy Hughes levelled for the Welsh side in the 62nd minute after Scunthorpe had snatched a second minute lead through striker Sam Winnall's third goal of the season.
"It was not like us to start to slowly," said Edinburgh.
"Our plan was to come here and keep them quiet for the first 20 or 25 minutes. But that plan had to go out of the window.
"What was like us though was the endeavor and workrate we showed to get back onto the game. That pleased me.
"We changed formation for the start of the second half and it worked for us.
"On reflection I think a point is a fair result for us, though with a bit more quality in the final third and we might have been able to come away with all three."
Newport have lost only once since returning to the Football League - and Edinburgh knows the momentum they have is important.
"When you have momentum, it is so important to keep it because it can so quickly go away," he confessed.
"But we are not getting carried away by our start.
"We have got to realise that three years ago Scunthorpe were a Championship side while we were in the Southern League Premier Division.
"We have a good squad of players and we have just got to continue doing what we do well."
