Edmund bows out in Chennai

Vasek Pospisil ended the hopes of British No 5 Kyle Edmund in the first round of the Chennai Open.

The fifth seed came through 6-3 7-5 against the Yorkshire teenager, who battled hard against a player who made a Masters semi-final last season.

The 18-year-old, who received a wild card into the event, is rated the most likely of Britain's latest crop of youngsters to make a success of his career on the ATP tour.

Pospisil was joined in the second round by Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic who won 7-5 6-2 against India's Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan.

Taiwain's Lu Yen-Hsun defeated Tim Smyczek, of the United States, 6-4 6-2 and Dudi Sela, of Israel, won 6-4 6-2 against Slovakia's Lukas Lacko.
