Elliott pair for Leopardstown

Trainer Gordon Elliott is set to saddle Flaxen Flare and Rocky Wednesday in the Boylesports.com Hurdle at Leopardstown on Saturday.

With a total prize fund of 100,000 euros and the sponsors offering a further 100,000 euros bonus for any horse that wins the race and follows up at the Cheltenham Festival, it is no surprise the two-mile handicap has attracted a strong field of 28 entries.

Flaxen Flare jointly heads the weights along with the Willie Mullins-trained City Slicker, while course and distance winner and last year's runner-up Rocky Wednesday is also an intended starter.

Elliott said: "He (Flaxen Flare) has been a great servant and he ran very well when third the last day at Ascot.

"He seems to go on any ground and he won at Cheltenham for us last season. He seems to be in great form and it makes sense to go for a race like this, especially as there is a 100,000 euros bonus for any horse that wins this race and at Cheltenham.

"He (Rocky Wednesday) is a hard horse to predict. He has gone up a good bit in the weights since last year but he won well around Leopardstown at Christmas time.

"He seems to like it around there and big fields seem to suit him."
