England beaten by Australia

A disputed penalty corner goal broke England's women resistance and paved the way for Australia to win their World League semi-final 3-0

Jason Lee's side were under pressure for much of the first half in Argentina but defended resolutely until Jodie Schulz's set-piece went in three minutes before the interval.

England immediately called for a video review and despite one angle appearing to show the ball deflecting in off the thigh of Hockeyroo Teneal Attard the goal was allowed to stand.

Two minutes after half-time Georgie Parker converted in a goalmouth scramble and Karrie McMahon added the third from a penalty corner within four minutes.

Had it not been for goalkeeper Maddie Hinch the score could have been greater with England's best chance falling to Alex Danson late in the second half but her vicious reverse-stick half-volley was batted away by Ashlee Wells.

England now face the loser of the other semi-final between Argentina and Holland in Sunday's third-place play-off in Tucuman.
