England rest Anderson for ODIs
Chris Woakes and Jos Buttler have been called into England's one-day squad to face India to replace James Anderson and Jonathan Trott.
With the England hierarchy keen to manage the workload of key players, Anderson and Trott will be rested for the five-match series which starts on 11 January in Rajkot.
Anderson was only scheduled to play in the first two limited overs matches anyway but given his exertions during the in sapping conditions during the Test series win it is no surprise the ECB have taken the decision to rest him.
Buttler, already a member of the T20 squad, has one ODI cap to his name, while Woakes memorably took six wickets against Australia in Brisbane in 2011.
An ECB statement read: "Woakes and Buttler replace Anderson and Trott in the India ODI squad as the selectors look to manage workloads."
Joe Root, meanwhile, has been added to the Twenty20 squad which will play two matches this week, the first in Pune on Thursday followed by Mumbai on Saturday.
The Yorkshireman is more known for his prowess in the longer form of the game but with England struggling for numbers he will provide another batting option.
Eoin Morgan is due to captain the T20 side in the absence of the injured Stuart Broad.
