Marina Erakovic won her first WTA title and the first by a New Zealander since 1989 at the US National Indoor Tennis Championships in Memphis.
Erakovic, 24, took the first set 6-1 and then found herself celebrating victory as third seed Sabine Lisicki was forced to retire injured.
The men's final will see Spain's Feliciano Lopez do battle with Japan's Kei Nishikori.
Fifth seed Nishikori also benefitted from a retirement, winning the first set 6-4 before Marinko Matosevic pulled out.
Lopez went the distance but secured a 6-3 3-6 6-3 win over Uzbek Denis Istomin.
