Evans qualifies in Marseille
Dan Evans will compete in the main draw at the Open 13 after coming through the qualifying tournament at the Marseille-based event.
The British No 2 claimed a 6-3 6-4 win over Switzerland's Henri Laaksonen to advance to the first round proper, where he will face Sergiy Stakhovsky.
Evans will be one of two Brits competing in the event, as 19-year-old Kyle Edmund has been given a wildcard entry.
Compatriot Jamie Ward failed to make it into the last 32 though as he went down 7-5 6-3 to Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis at the final qualifying hurdle.
Blaz Kavcic will take on top seed Richard Gasquet in the second round after claiming a straightforward win over Thanasi Kokkinakis on Monday.
Gasquet was handed a bye into the second round and Kavcic did not have to work much harder to progress as he eased to a 6-4 6-2 victory over his Australian opponent.
Evans' countryman Jamie Ward failed to make it into the last-32 though as he went down 7-5 6-3 to Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis at the final qualifying hurdle.
