Ewart Shadoff makes bright start
England's Jodi Ewart Shadoff was a shot off the lead after the first round of the Kia Classic in California.
The 26-year-old Solheim Cup winner fired a flawless four-under round of 68 to narrowly trail leaders Paula Cremer and Mariajo Uribe at the Aviara Gold Club in Carlsbad.
Ewart Shadoff carded birdies in two of her opening four holes, before picking up further strokes at the par-four ninth and 18th.
The Yorkshire golfer has never won on the LPGA Tour, following her debut in 2011, but was part of the European team that won the Solheim Cup at the Colorado Golf Club last August.
Ewart Shadoff finished in a tie for fourth at the US Women's Open last year.
