Exeter call Sunday check

Officials at Exeter have called a precautionary inspection for 8am on Sunday ahead of their meeting that afternoon.

Clerk of the course Barry Johnson reports the track to be raceable at present, but with further rain forecast, he feels it prudent to make an early course assessment on Sunday.

He said: "We are quietly hopeful. We had 17 millimetres of rain in the last 24 hours and we are raceable this morning.

"There is a bit of standing water, but the sun is coming out and there's blue skies so I'd think that will probably be gone by 10am.

"We are forecast a dry day today before the next storm moves in tonight. The forecast says we could get up to 30mm of rain, but I've been tracking the storm and I'm hoping we might get away with a bit less than that.

"It all depends on how much rain we get. The ground staff have done a brilliant job though, and we will be racing on 80 per cent fresh ground."
