The FA will study the findings of the John Terry court case before deciding whether or not to bring charges against him.
On Friday Terry was cleared at Westminster Magistrates' Court of racially abusing QPR's Anton Ferdinand and the FA will now have to decide whether to open disciplinary proceedings under its rules.
It is likely to be at least a week before a decision is made.
The FA can still bring charges even though Terry was found not guilty in court.
Liverpool's Luis Suarez was banned by the FA last season for racially abusing Patrice Evra but that case never went to court.
An FA spokesman said: "The FA notes the decision in the John Terry case and will now seek to conclude its own enquiries. The FA will make no further comment at this time."
Former Manchester United and Tottenham striker Garth Crooks, now a BBC presenter, has criticised the FA for not acting sooner.
Crooks said on www.guardian.co.uk: "The real problem in the Terry case began once the FA failed to take immediate action.
"This lack of fibre by the governing body to act instantly when Terry gave them a statement after the verbal clash with Ferdinand, threw the entire procedure into chaos - forcing everyone associated with the game to either dive for cover or sit on the fence.
"It may have appeared expedient to delay matters at the time but once the police appeared on the scene the FA lost control of the process and the dynamic dramatically changed."
Crooks believes that Terry should still face action from the FA even though the Chelsea player's defence was that he was only repeating what he believed Ferdinand had accused him of saying.
He added: "I believe it was wrong of him to say these words under any circumstances - and though Terry has been found not to have committed a criminal offence, the FA must now decide whether the former England captain should be charged for contravening its own rules.
"If the FA don't act on the undisputed facts, and find Terry guilty of bringing the game into disrepute, a lot of good people are saying to me that there's no point in getting involved in the game at a senior level."

The FA is certainly not going to accept the decision of the Court! John Terry is a real hate figure, and the FA must now find another way of proving him guilty.

Speaking as a neutral observer, It is certainly beginning to look that way................

JT should be banned, how many times can he do wrong before someone stops him on his tracks. He should be ashamed about the amount of times he had tarnished football and England. Sack him.

'Innocent until proven guilty'......now becomes 'guilty although proven innocent'! What is happening to this country?

Terry was cleared at Westminster Magistrates' Court of racially abuse. Surely the FA is not above the law. Why is it only white people are charged with racially abuse.

Black people dont go around calling people by colour .....simple. You w***e **** would not enter the thought process. It all boils down to a heat of the moment clash and they both said what they thought at the time i dont think JT IS racist but believe he had enough n snapped. It is clear to see EVEN if he is found not guilty..the footage clearly shows he meant it.

FA BALLS IN YOUR COURT NOW. Feeling pressure you should be ???? Come on Trevor decent people waiting for this one or are you going to delay a decision until.say after th World Cup

The hypocrisy of Gordon Taylor beggars belief. The man is all over the press saying that the F.A. should punish John Terry, even though a Court of Law found him innocent. This from the same man who argued it was OK to name a convicted rapist in The Championship team of the year because that was not a 'football related' issue!!!!

their are some black players and reporters who want john terrys head on a plate just to say this is what we say happened and you not going to get away with it whether your chelsea captain ex england or what ever and now the FA are getting in on the act just to please these people

rob
I think Mandy Fullerton has a cheek. A black player got him off the hook by blatently lying to the court saying he heard Ferdinand from 30/40 yards away....but heard nothing from JT standing next to him. Trying to turn it around on black people by saying that. What did Anton Ferdinand do? JT started it by saying he had bad breath, Anton replied, JT got embarrassed and retorted with the racist comment. JT IS a lowlife and has many chances. He is a role model for millions of kids worldwide and his behaviour is not acceptable..Joey Barton got punished, Luis Suarez also, as did Cantona, Di Canio, etc...

so rob you know john terry on a personal level then
