Fallon: Story can go the distance

Kieren Fallon is adamant True Story will stay the mile-and-a-half trip in the Investec Derby at Epsom on June 7.

The six-times champion jockey will put last month's easy Feilden Stakes winner through his paces in the Betfred Dante at York next week before the partnership head for the premier Classic.

True Story is trained by Saeed bin Suroor and owned by Godolphin, for whom Fallon will be given plenty of opportunities to shine this summer.

The rider said: "He's got speed. I think he'll stay.

"He's got the action of a horse that will definitely get a trip.

"He's got a great attitude, he was very impressive in the Feilden. And he's got the ability."

Suitably inspired by his 2000 Guineas success aboard Night Of Thunder at Newmarket on Saturday, Fallon claims he has again rediscovered his appetite for race-riding.

He told the Guardian: "I don't feel like I'm 49.

"I've never felt this well in my life. I've never been this hungry, I really want it now.

"Whereas before, I was a little bit ... I didn't appreciate it as much as I do now and I didn't enjoy it as much as I enjoyed Saturday.

"I have a lot more to give."
