Security staff at Everton escorted a man attempting to warm up with Manchester City players off the field prior to the clash at Goodison Park.
The man, dressed in City kit, ran on along the touchline as City's players warmed up at Goodison Park and attempted to join them on the field.
But his presence soon alerted the interest of stewards and he was led away.
Play was held up in the corresponding fixture between the two sides last season when a man ran onto the field and handcuffed himself to a goalpost.
The man had been protesting about Ryanair's recruitment policy after his daughter was denied a job by the airline.
