FC Dallas stretch lead in MLS
FC Dallas extended their lead in Major League Soccer's Western Conference with a 1-0 win over the 10-man Los Angeles Galaxy.
George John scored the only goal three minutes from time after the Galaxy played the final half-hour a man short following the dismissal of Leonardo.
Second-placed Chivas USA were beaten 1-0 at home by the Colorado Rapids, Deshorn Brown's seventh-minute penalty proving decisive.
The Vancouver Whitecaps salvaged a 1-1 draw against Real Salt Lake after Camilo's 85th-minute penalty. Olmes Garcia had given RSL a 66th-minute lead.
The New York Red Bulls were the day's only winners in the Eastern Conference as goals from Thierry Henry and Jamison Olave in the space of eight first-half minutes downed DC United 2-0.
Jack McInerny's last-minute goal earned the Philadelphia Union a 1-1 draw against Toronto FC. The Canadian side had taken the lead through Robert Earnshaw in the 71st minute but McInerny's equaliser came after Ashtone Morgan was sent off.
The day's other game, between the Seattle Sounders and the New England Revolution, was goalless.
