Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand may face FA action after being involved in an altercation with Chelsea striker Fernando Torres during Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final.
Ferdinand appeared to trip the Spaniard before pushing him in the back in the 86th minute of the clash at Old Trafford.
The FA will look again at the footage before deciding what action, if any, to take but Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez refused to be drawn on the incident.
"I haven't seen the replay - you can see the replay," he said when asked for his response. "You have an advantage and can do it now."
Benitez also confirmed he had spoken to Torres about the matter but would not go into any details.
"I don't talk about things that happen on the pitch," he added.
Benitez himself was involved in a spat with his opposite number Sir Alex Ferguson, who appeared to snub the Chelsea boss's handshake before the game, while the pair also failed to shake hands at the final whistle
As for the game itself, Ferdinand was frustrated United let their opponents back into the game after holding a 2-0 advantage.
Two goals in the opening 11 minutes from Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney put the home side in control but a stunning Eden Hazard strike in the second half was followed up by a well-taken Ramires goal as Chelsea earned a replay a Stamford Bridge.
"We gave them the impetus to claw their way back into the game. We played some great football at times but were so careless at times," said Ferdinand.
"If you are careless you are going to get punished. That was the case.
"But we are still in the cup. Wembley is waiting for one of us to go through and hopefully it is us.
"We go to Stamford Bridge for the replay with confidence. We have the tools. We have been there before this season and done well and with the squad we have we don't fear going anywhere."
what do you think?

Even the match commentators said he shudnta done it at the time it was just a petty childish thing that might take place in a primary school playground for goodness sake an fergie should lead by example his players are behavin the same childish way he does x

What ferdinand did to torres was no different to what John Terry did in the champions league when he got a suspension. Attacking a player from behind in an off the ball incident. Difference is this was a Man u player at old trafford with a fergie ref.

He should be given 4 game ban minimum. Ferdinand has always tought he could take the law into his own hand's. From not submitting urine tests to refusing to wear anti racism t - shirts Ferdinand's career will be remembered as someone who seems to think he can do what he pleases and only ever looked half good if Vidic was playing alongside him. He is a disgrace to Manchester United Football Club.

Come on the rest of you, if the fa do anything I will be very surprised

"We gave them the impetus to claw their way back into the game" Claw their way back in?? Chelsea were all over them in the second half and they only have their keeper to thank for keeping them in it. As for the kicking out at torres it'll be interesting to see what, if any,. action is taken

shirley sutton
Thought that that's what ref and linesmen were for not looking at videos after the event to see who they can punish!

So if it's not seen at the time by the officials then it's ok to do whatever you like? hmmmm interesting viewpoint. Also I wonder if you'd be saying the same if it was Ferdinand that was kicked??

As Ferdinand says, they have the tools.

maybe now torres will actually do what he gets paid to do and score goals after that kick lol but still that's not expected from ferdinand.

I am not a supporter of either club but as a football fan I watched this game yesterday. Ferdinand deliberately knocked Torres from behind , disgusting action this is an assault and a criminal offence. the worry is young people who watch this copy and attack others in school or playgrounds. Police should get involved this is an assault of worst kind. Shame on you Ferdinand you and Fergi spoil man u good name. Hooligans should be punished with hefty fine or prison.

You have evidence of this? Your making accusations. Or jumping on the band wagon.

Martin Massey...really? More evidence? Do United fans just really choose not see anything their club does that is wrong?
