Ferguson fined for comments

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been fined £12,000 by the FA for criticising a match official.

The Red Devils boss was furious after his side conceded a late equaliser at Tottenham in January - insisting the visitors should have been awarded a penalty for Steven Caulker's trip on Wayne Rooney.

Referee's assistant Simon Beck was the subject of the ire of the Scot, who said in the wake of the 1-1 draw: "It was a clear decision. And he [Beck] was 10, maybe 12 yards away from the incident and he doesn't give it. And yet he gave everything else."

"There was no way we were going to get a decision from [Beck].

"We remember him well from his time at the Chelsea game when Didier Drogba was three yards offside and he gave onside. I think he had a shocking game today, and I'm disappointed in his performance, I really am.

"I think he has had a bad game, and we never got anything from that side of the pitch. We got a bad break."

The FA charged Ferguson with a breach of rule E3, and have subsequently found him guilty at a private hearing despite his pleas to the contrary.

what do you think?

£12k? What a joke! When will the F.A realise the only thing that will shut up bully boy fergie is a points deduction. Fergie isn't stupid, he knows how it all works. If you have a problem take it to the F.A, dont spit your bile and try to embarress a linesman on T.V

Does anyone complain more than Wenger, does any team have more players sent off than Arsenal, shhhh , can only criticise SAF, no-one criticises other managers - oops! Trophyless for 8 years - must be doing something right?

when you watch the penalty decision i think the officials got it right as its rooney who kicks the back of caulkers leg then falls over, its a trick that ranaldo has won many penalties with, so fergie got it wrong again

You must be something special if all the refs have been fooled apart from you any other players you've noted doing or only those that had anything to do with fergie?

Why does everyone hate fergie? Must be jealousy, you hear managers moan about decisions all the time, and they never get points deducted. sounds like wishful city fan thinking to me

The spurs game Man Utd had lots of changes to kill the game off but right at the end spurs scored. It's like the spurs/man Utd game years ago when the ball crossed the line by miles but the linesmen didn't give it and cost spurs 3 points. Why can't theses managers just admit there were not good enough that day to beat whoever and stop blaming the refs.

Diane thats because you would cut your nose off to spite your face and your team have spent 20 yrs as also rans behind his.

of course it is jealousy, every little thing these idiots can find to complain about just because they know that they have no hope in hell of ever emulating what United have achieved and will achieve in the future. Their only hope is a points deduction - suppose they have to hope for something

I'm not a big fan of Man Utd but I do agree that they should come down harder on managers who say bad things to officials like bigger fines and longer touchline bans. If Andy Gray&Richard Keys get sacked for saying how poor it is having a female official then the FA really need to come down hard on theses managers.

Typical of the FA just Pathetic!! Why don't they try keeping him away from at least 12 games or take his knighthood away then the penny might drop. What an example set by a peer of the realm!!
