Fifita in line for debut
Cronulla prop Andrew Fifita is set to make his debut for Australia in Saturday's World Cup opener against England at the Millennium Stadium.
Fifita, one of two uncapped players in the Kangaroos' 24-man squad, will be on the bench in a squad which features 13 players who appeared in Australia's 32-12 win over New Zealand earlier this year.
Players from Grand Finalists Sydney Roosters and Manly have been overlooked while veteran Brent Tate got the nod ahead of Michael Jennings and Josh Morris for the centre spot made vacant by injury to Justin Hodges.
The 24-year-old Fifita, who made his Origin debut this year, is the only prop on the bench as coach Tim Sheens opts for agility.
Australia: B Slater; B Morris, G Inglis, B Tate, D Boyd; J Thurston, C Cronk, M Scott, C Smith (capt), J Tamou, G Bird, S Thaiday, P Gallen. Interchange: A Fifita, L Lewis, R Farah, C Parker.
