Finn extends Tigers deal

Castleford have rewarded Liam Finn for his impressive start to life as a Super League player by giving him a new contract.

The Ireland captain signed from Featherstone in the winter, getting his top-flight chance late in his career after several seasons in the Championship.

The 30-year-old half-back has excelled for the Tigers so far, assisting 13 tries in their climb to third place in the table.

As a result his deal has been extended to the end of 2016 with an option for a further season.

"I came to Castleford initially for one year to try and take the opportunity and see where it took me so for the club to want to keep me for a bit longer is pleasing," Finn, who followed Featherstone coach Daryl Powell to Cas, said.

"It's pleasing that I've managed to do a good enough job to earn a new contract and hopefully I can kick on and establish myself as a Super League player."

Powell is pleased to have tied down a man with whom he has enjoyed a lot of success.

"I'm delighted that Liam has signed a new contract to stay with the club after an outstanding season for him to date," he said.

"His organisation abilities are superb, alongside his leadership qualities and deep understanding of the game."
