Five-star Steelers beat Giants

Colin Shields scored a hat-trick as Sheffield Steelers stormed to a 5-1 victory over Belfast Giants in the Elite League.

Shields struck twice in the second period at the Odyssey Arena, adding to Jonathan Phillips' opener.

Both men then scored again in the third period after Darryl Lloyd had pulled a goal back.

Nottingham Panthers also enjoyed a profitable Friday night trip as they thrashed Braehead Clan by the same scoreline.

Jonathan Weaver, Matt Francis, David Ling, Jordan Fox and Pat Galivan put the Panthers firmly in command before Jade Galbraith netted a consolation goal.
