Flitcroft eyes Barnsley boost

Barnsley manager David Flitcroft is hoping his side's four-day training camp in Spain can help his side bounce back from their weekend defeat at Bristol City.

The players have been rewarded with a "strategic working holiday" for their recent six-match winning streak, which has seen them climb out of the relegation zone in the Championship and secure a quarter-final tie at Manchester City in the FA Cup.

Barnsley, two points clear of the bottom three, have made good use of their warm weather training facilities in Spain by working double sessions ahead of three big games in seven days.

"The intensity and tempo of each session has been good and the players' attitude and application of what we're doing has been excellent," said Flitcroft.

"They are fully committed to what we are asking of them and you can see that in how they have given 100 per cent to the sessions."

The Tykes face two league fixtures, against Bolton at Oakwell this weekend and at Burnley on Tuesday night, before their cup clash at the Etihad Stadium a week on Saturday.
