Brian Flynn has revealed that he is on the shortlist to become the next permanent manager of Doncaster.
The former Wales Under-21 boss has been in caretaker charge along with captain Rob Jones following the departure of Dean Saunders to Wolves 10 days ago.
The Rovers hierarchy met on Thursday to finalise a shortlist and arrange interviews for prospective successors to Saunders and 57-year-old Flynn is among the candidates - and open to taking the job.
He told BBC Radio Sheffield: "Possession is nine-tenths of the law and I've got the job at the moment.
"The club have told me that I am on the shortlist and I await their decision.
"I'm led to believe that something will be sorted next week but I don't know for certain."
Flynn spent eight years in charge of Wales' youth teams before joining Doncaster as a scout in August.
Alongside Jones, he guided Rovers to a 2-1 win at Stevenage last weekend to keep the club joint-top of League One.
The former Wrexham boss has been out of club management since leaving Swansea in 2004.

Great choice for manager, the Swans wouldn't be where they are now if it wasn't for Brian Flynn. Give him a chance, he won't let you down.
