Thurs 0800: It's the morning after the night before and there are a few significant odds and ends to tell you about now that the dust has settled and managers, players and agents are safely tucked into their four-posters.
Late last night, Fulham gazumped Newcastle to snatch 26-year-old Twente striker Brian Ruiz on a four-year deal for a fee of £10.6m. QPR also burned the midnight oil to complete the signing of Anton Ferdinand on a three-year deal.
Leicester, who've had an extremely busy transfer window, signed Jermaine Beckford from Everton for a fee which could rise to £4m.
0030: CROUCH CONFIRMED! At last. It went down to the wire but Peter Crouch is now a Stoke player after joining from Spurs in a £10m deal. Time to go sleep. Thanks for joining our coverage on another hectic deadline day. Check the biggest deals above.
0000: The clock strikes midnight. The window has been closed for an hour and the only big deal expected to be confirmed is Peter Crouch to Stoke.
2355: Deals still coming through as we approach midnight. Fulham confirm the free transfer of former Porto striker Orlando Sa on a three-year deal.
2340: Another one in for Everton. Royston Drenthe has signed on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid. Jerome to Stoke is for an undisclosed fee on a four-year contract. Still waiting on Crouch but apparently the paperwork went through on a £10m deal. Blackburn have pounced late for Sheffield United's Jordan Slew, who joins Rovers for an initial £1m.
2327: The Arteta deal to Arsenal is a four-year contract. Don't suppose the signing of Argentine forward Denis Stracqualursi, who has joined Everton on loan from Tigre, will make Toffess fans sleep easier tonight.
2319: ARTETA DONE DEAL! Now official. Arsenal have swooped late to sign the Everton playmaker for around £10m. Some news from Stoke - Cameron Jerome has joined the Potters from Birmingham, still waiting for Crouch confirmation
2315: A source at Arsenal has claimed Arteta IS a Gooner, but we await official confirmation. It looks a done deal, though. Have to feel for David Moyes and Everton fans. The fee for Meireles is believed to be in the region of £12m.
2312: CONFIRMED - CHELSEA SIGN MEIRELES ON A FOUR-YEAR DEAL! Fee and more details to follow! Meanwhile Anton Ferdinand has completed his move to QPR from Sunderland!
2306: CHELSEA HAVE AGREED A DEAL FOR LIVERPOOL'S RAUL MEIRELES! Nothing's wrapped up, but they *may* have sneaked the paperwork in just before the deadline! Must have been on the back burner all along, hence the bizarrely-timed transfer request. You can rule nothing out on deadline day! Meanwhile the ego has landed in Sunderland - they've signed Nicklas Bendtner on loan from Arsenal!
2303: Villa have completed their double Spurs swoop, Hutton's permanent £4m move being followed by Jermaine Jenas on a season-long loan!
2300: CLUNK! THE TRANSFER WINDOW HAS SLAMMED SHUT! Stick with us right through til midnight as we bring you all the news of the late deals being tied up - Peter Crouch is poised to join Stoke for around £12m, while Mikel Arteta is mighty close to wrapping up his £10m move to Arsenal.
2257: Arsenal are set to announce the signing of Mikel Arteta! The paperwork is being prepared - Arsene Wenger's had a barnstorming final day of the window if he pulls that one off alongside Mertesacker, Santos and Benayoun!
2255: YOSSI BENAYOUN HAS SIGNED FOR ARSENAL! It's finally confirmed - he joins on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season. Any more for any more in the last five minutes of the window?
2251: Alan Hutton has signed for Aston Villa from Spurs for around £4m! Fulham tried to nab him with a last-minute swoop but Alex McLeish got his man.
2245: Just 15 minutes to go with Peter Crouch still not a Stoke player, Raul Meireles waving his transfer request around expecting a miracle and QPR with all manner of deals to tie up! We'll be here right through til midnight to bring you all the inevitable late deals and tales of fax machine woes.
2240: Another done deal - Fulham have fought off Newcastle to land Bryan Ruiz from FC Twente!
2236: CRAIG BELLAMY HAS SIGNED FOR LIVERPOOL ON A TWO-YEAR DEAL! Going bold with that one, biggest of the night I reckon - so far anyway! Meanwhile, riding on his shouty-font coat-tails is Scott Dann who has signed for Blackburn from Birmingham!
2233: SWP HAS SIGNED FOR QPR! Pen has met paper, scribbleage has occured, hands have been shaken! He's "delighted", but you'd think his dog had just gone under a truck by the sound of him.
2232: Raul Meireles has handed in a transfer request at Liverpool! Good timing sunshine, half an hour before the bleedin' deadline!
2228: Nikica Jelavic is staying at Rangers! Leicester boss Sven's not going to get his man, and neither are the mystery club who bid £9m for him.
2223: Sky Sports' David Craig reckons Newcastle's moves for Bryan Ruiz and Liam Ridgewell have both gone pear shaped. Better news for on the horizon for QPR fans though, with SWP, Jason Puncheon and Anton Ferdinand set to put pen to paper before the hour is out.
2218: Crouchy to Stoke looks like being the next biggie to be wrapped up, he's mooching around the Britannia with his unmistakable lanky frame being picked out by the cameras, even four floors up. He's straight in my fantasy football team if that goes though!
2214: No more business from Spurs tonight. How many times have we heard that? The Beeb are reporting that Brighton won't be signing former Valencia winger Vicente tonight, but as he's a free agent that matters not a jot - talks will continue tomorrow.
2210: I love watching Sky Sports' roving reporters getting ever-more agitated by the lairy hoards outside training grounds and stadiums. Think the poor fella outside Melwood is on the verge of snapping and serving up some shoe pie to the Scouse kids.
2200: ONE HOUR TO GO! Craig Bellamy has arrived at Melwood for talks with Liverpool! Quick Championship shout - West Ham have signed Hamburg utility man Guy Demel. Fasten your seatbelts, it's about to get frantic!
2151: Arsenal have signed Per Mertesacker from Werder Bremen for around £10m! They'll all dropping now! Next up for the Gunners - Arteta?
2146: Wilson Palacios has left Spurs and signed for Stoke for £8m! That's a bit more money in the kitty for Harry in the final few hours of the window...
2142: ARTETA UPDATE! He's not put in an official transfer request, but has asked to leave Everton. Mind you, the fact that a fee had been agreed with Arsenal and his terms were the only stumbling block, that's no surprise, is it?
2132: El Hadji Diouf has been released by Blackburn, which leaves him with loads of spare time to polish his fleet of stupid chrome cars.
2123: Talks are BACK ON regards Arteta to Arsenal! A £10m fee had been agreed with Everton but the stumbling block was the Spaniard's personal terms, but it seems those are currently being thrashed out. Benayoun to Arsenal on loan is also still a goer...
2114: The OFFICIAL Spurs line about Kaka, straight from the saggy-faced cockney horse's mouth, is that it was never going to happen. In addition, Redknapp has just confirmed that Chelsea offered £40m for Luka Modric yesterday but Spurs turned it down - Modric STAYS at The Lane.
2100: TWO HOURS TO GO! Twitter is alive with talk of Spurs signing Kaka - Natalie Sawyer and Georgie Thompson are also trending, maybe Harry will try and sign them too. Stick Justin Bieber on the wing for good measure - "Ohhh Bieber's worwd clarss, worwd clarss, but we're not looking to do any more business tonight."
2054: The Beeb's Ian Dennis reports that Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has joined Sunderland on a season-long loan deal, while Sky Sports News' David Craig says individuals are jumping the gun and the official line is that he's still an Arsenal player. Toss a coin and decide who you believe.
2049: Jermaine Beckford's Everton career never quite took off, but maybe he'll start banging the goals in once more in the Championship - we'll soon find out as he's joined Leicester City for around £4m.
2043: Two done deals for Bolton! The Trotters have landed Liverpool striker David Ngog on a three-year deal - no idea of the price yet - while Chelsea winger Gael Kakuta will be supplying him the ammo from the wing after joining on a six-month loan!
2032: Leicester are sniffing round Nikica Jelavic again! Rangers have already turned down £6m for the Croatian onion-bag bulger, but when someone tickles Sven's fancy he doesn't give up easily.
2015: SWP has started his press-ups! I repeat - SWP HAS STARTED HIS PRESS-UPS!
2009: QPR news aplenty - Shaun Wright-Phillips IS at Loftus Road but IS NOT having a medical until the details of his release from Man City have been agreed. Anton Ferdinand's move from Sunderland may have hit the buffers with the Black Cats reportedly hiking up their price, Southampton's Jason Puncheon is en route to Loftus Road, while Sebastien Bassong is another in Neil Warnock's melting pot.
2000: THREE HOURS TO GO! News from Celtic who were looking for a left-back - they've found one in the form of Badr El Kaddouri, who joins on loan from Dynamo Kiev at least until January to cover for the crocked Emilion Izaguirre. Yet another piece of news from Stoke - they fancy taking Man City's Adam Johnson on loan and are in talks. Oooh - Birmingham's Liam Ridgewell is apparently a target for Newcastle who are waking up at last. Not quite enough to get the Toon Army down to St James' Park to wander around like striped zombies chanting the name of whoever the new Messiah is, but at least some of the Carroll cash is finally being flashed.
1944: Owen Hargreaves has signed for Man City! He joins on a free, and managed to pen the one-year deal without spraining his wrist. Meanwhile FC Twente have accepted an offer from Newcastle for Costa Rica hitman Bryan Ruiz which is the same that Fulham made - now it's down to the player, but he's not got much time to get to the north-east.
1933: Action! A Championship move to tell you about while we drum our fingers waiting for some concrete news on Bellamy, Crouch, Cahill and Benayoun - Blackpool have bolstered their back line with West Brom right-back James Hurst.
1916: Arsenal are NO LONGER interested in signing Mikel Arteta say Sky Sports News, and are instead putting all their efforts into landing Yossi Benayoun. DONE DEAL at Wigan - Shaun Maloney has joined from Celtic for a fee of arounf £1m. Kebab was wonderful by the way - enough left over for breakfast too.
1900: FOUR HOURS TO GO! The Beeb's Dan Rowan reports "A very good Bolton source tells me he thinks Gary Cahill is unlikely to leave and that Man City were in talks with him at one stage." Apart from that, everything's rather quiet! The calm before the storm, though there is one rather large transfer to tell you about - the transfer of the gargantuan kebab meat and chips sat before me into my gut. Well, it is deadline day after all.
1843: Peter Crouch has reportedly agreed terms with Stoke and is set to undergo a medical. Size definitely does matter if you're Tony Pulis. Meanwhile, Chelsea's out-of-favour midfielder, Yossi Benayoun, is apparently in talks with Arsenal over a loan move to the Emirates.
1812: If Mikel Arteta does fill the Cesc Fabregas-shaped hole in the Arsenal midfield, then a subsequent deal is really gathering momentum - the cash could be used to bring Real Madrid's fleet-footed left-flank-hugger Royston Drenthe to Goodison. No final word on David Ngog's move from Liverpool to Bolton, but one loan move going through looks like seeing Jermain Jenas following Alan Hutton from Spurs to Aston Villa.
1800: FIVE HOURS TO GO! Brighton could have pulled off quite a coup in the Championship with the imminent signing of winger Vicente on a free transfer from Valencia. He was one of the best left-wingers in the world around 2004, and Gus Poyet obviously reckons he could still tear it up in the second tier.
1746: Fulham have already wrapped up the signing of Zdenek Grygera, and now it looks like they're trying to hijack Villa's move for Alan Hutton with a cheeky £4m bid! By the way, turns out that Owen Hargreaves didn't even have to go to Manchester for his City medical - he did it at home, just in case he injured himself getting out of the car.
1740: The Beeb's Ian Dennis says "Peter Crouch, I'm told, is on the way to Stoke. Certainly his representatives are. Cameron Jerome is already at the Britannia Stadium discussing terms and having a medical." Meanwhile the SFA have confirmed that Alan Hutton is on his way to Villa for talks. No idea what business it is of the Super Furry Animals, but there you go.
1725: Sky Sports News have dropped a Mikel Arteta-shaped bombshell! Their man on the spot at Arsenal has heard from a "good source" that the Gunners have tabled a £10m bid for the Everton midfielder...
1700: SIX HOURS TO GO! Scott Parker's transfer fee has been confirmed as £5m, an absolute bargain given today's bonkers prices, David Bentley going the other way to West Ham on loan has been confirmed now. Owen Hargreaves has arrived at Man City for his medical, swiftly followed by a van containing 500 metres of cotton wool.
1657: Wesley Sneijder's agent has denied speculation that his client is having a medical at Man Utd. I love all this transfer nonsense, but the Sneijder 'move' is beginning to grate more than Fabregas did - and that's saying something.
1645: Two done deals! Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury is being farmed out to West Ham on loan for a season, while Fulham have wrapped up a move for 31-year-old Juventus defender Zdenek Grygera on a one-year deal. Harry Redknapp loves a bit of deadline day action and could be in the thick of things once more - Gary Cahill's chances of swapping Bolton for Spurs are "50/50" say Sky Sports, while Peter Crouch looks like having to decide between standing in the six-yard box waiting for a Rory Delap throw-in, or rotting in the reserves - it's Stoke or nowt, Pete. David Bentley is also on his way out of The Lane with West Ham the likeliest option on loan.
1631: Craig Bellamy's not the only one deserting international duties to tie up a move - Spurs full-back Alan Hutton has left the Scotland camp to bomb down to the midlands for talks with Aston Villa.
1620: Could this be the biggie of the day?! Craig Bellamy has been given permission to leave the Wales training camp to head to Merseyside for talks with Liverpool! It *had* been mooted last week, but today it looked like QPR or Stoke were the only choices. Now he could be back at Anfield once more - just hide the golf clubs!
1600: Afternoon everyone, and welcome to Orange's live commentary on the culmination of transfer deadline day - we'll be serving up all the biggest completed moves, and probably a weighty chunk of unsubstantiated guff direct from various media outlets and Twitter, right up until the window closes at 11pm and beyond. The biggest pot-boilers at the mo are Craig Bellamy who is believed to be deciding on whether to join Stoke or QPR - the former also agreeing a fee with Birmingham for Cameron Jerome, the latter set to sign Anton Ferdinand from Sunderland, while Blackburn are closing in on Everton striker Yakubu. Among the players currently doing their squat thrusts and lunges up and down the country are Celtic winger Shaun Maloney at Wigan, Birmingham defender Scott Dann at Blackburn and Tigre striker Denis Stracqualursi (no, never heard of him either) at Everton.
