Forest plan further signings
Nottingham Forest owner Fawaz Al Hasawi has vowed to continue providing the backing for further summer strengthening.
Forest have already been busy in the transfer market, bringing in the likes of Matty Fryatt, Lars Veldwijk, Louis Laing and Michael Mancienne.
There is, however, the promise of more to come as the Reds board and new manager Stuart Pearce endeavour to return Premier League football to the City Ground.
Al Hasawi said in a statement posted on the club's official website: \"We are in the middle of another exciting summer at The City Ground. Although I haven't been in the UK much lately, I'm sure you all know me well enough to realise I have been in constant contact with the manager and staff to ensure we are preparing as best we can for the upcoming season, on and off the field.
\"Stuart and the team are at a training camp in Portugal at the moment and I was thrilled to hear of our 3-2 victory over Porto B yesterday. Special congratulations go to Lars Veldwijk, who scored his first goal for us since arriving from Excelsior. Let's hope there are many more to come.
\"I love winning as much as anyone, but sometimes you have to look at things from a wider perspective. For me, more pleasing than yesterday's victory was Stuart's decision to include Tyler Walker and Jorge Grant in his travelling party. What a tremendous sense of satisfaction it gives us all to see our young players being considered for first-team opportunities. I wish them both the very best of luck.
\"Sometimes, however, you have to look further afield. Earlier this week we welcomed Roger Riera to the club, a graduate of Barcelona's academy. I hope that, given time, Roger will be a great asset for us, and I'm sure he will thrive under the guidance, knowledge and passion this club has for developing young players. He joins us at a time when we are upgrading our academy to fully integrate with the first-team set-up and I truly believe there are exciting times ahead on this front.
\"Naturally, we would be foolish to solely rely on youngsters to help us achieve our dream of reaching the Premier League. Michael Mancienne joined us from Hamburg yesterday, a player who the managerial staff know very well and who, at 26, has his best years ahead of him. I welcome him to our club and look forward to seeing him in the garibaldi.
\"It is both mine and Stuart's desire to strengthen further before the 2014-15 campaign gets underway. We both want the same thing, and we will give our all to achieve it.\"
