Fox rocks Gold at Naas

The Ted Walsh-trained Foxrock (11-8 favourite) ground out victory over the testing three miles in the Woodlands Park 100 Club Novice Chase.

Rogue Angel did the donkey work in front but had nothing left from the third-last, leaving Foxrock and Sizing Gold at the head off affairs.

Foxrock, ridden by Danny Mullins for owner Barry Connell, found more stamina reserves and wore down Sizing Gold to land this Grade Two at Naas.

Connell said: "The plan is to go for the Ten Up Novice Chase at Navan next month and then the four-miler at Cheltenham.

"I'd be happier to go there rather than the RSA Chase.

"He handles that ground well and is going the right way.

"Sizing Gold was jumping really well but our fellow has an engine and kept moving up beside him.

"He's an exciting horse for the future and hopefully next year we can step him up into Grade One company."

Walsh said: "He jumps and stays and if he stays sound we'll have plenty of fun with him."
