France take control in Perth
France took control of Group B at the Hopman Cup in Perth with a 2-1 win over second seeds the United States.
After the singles rubbers were shared Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Alize Cornet won the deciding mixed doubles in a match tie-breaker 6-1 5-7 (10-5).
The USA had taken a lead in the tie when 12th-ranked Sloane Stephens beat Cornet 7-5 6-0.
Tsonga brought France, the third seeds, level with a 7-6 (7/1) 6-3 victory over John Isner before they secured a thrilling tie in the mixed doubles.
Victory means France are the only unbeaten nation in Group B with six-time winners the United States dropping to a 1-1 win-loss record alongside the Czech Republic.
France play defending champions Spain, who are winless so far, in their final group game with victory assuring them a place in Saturday's final.
