Freedman: Eagles can be key

Dougie Freedman believes Chris Eagles will have a vital role to play if Bolton are to mount a promotion push.

Freedman believes the talent he has inherited since being installed as Owen Coyle's successor at the end of last week means Wanderers can soon make a mockery of their current lowly status - 18th position in the Championship.

Despite Wanderers' early season struggles, 26-year-old former Burnley winger Eagles has displayed fine individual form and tops the club's scoring charts with six goals.

"I mention that guy because I think he's very crucial to this club," said Freedman.

"I think he's still young enough, he's got a spark in his eye that says he wants to do well.

"And I mention him because I believe if we can get him firing the right way then he will be a key to our success. He's one of many names that I look forward to working with."
