French ace Dalkala's Ascot aim
Dalkala has been confirmed as a "very probable" runner at Ascot next weekend in the Fillies' And Mares' Stakes.
Alain de Royer-Dupre's four-year-old won the Middleton Stakes at York in May and improved on that effort to win the Prix de l'Opera at Longchamp on Arc day.
That victory came over 10 furlongs but Royer-Dupre is not concerned about stepping up in trip having won the Prix de Royallieu over and extended mile and a half on Arc day last season.
"It is very probable that Dalkala will run in the Fillies' and Mares' at Ascot," said Royer-Dupre.
"She has recovered very well from the Opera and she might have even needed the race.
"The distance is no problem as she has already won the Prix de Royallieu."
Another French challenger confirmed for the meeting is the popular Cirrus Des Aigles who is trying to win a second Qipco Champion Stakes, and he was also second to Frankel last year.
He will head to Ascot full of confidence after strolling to victory in the Prix Dollar.
"Cirrus des Aigles came out of the Dollar in great shape and he will be at a peak on October 19," said trainer Corine Barande-Barbe.
"I have never doubted that he would return to his best form. I never wanted to push him as he needed time and his ground."
