French aim for Ralston

Ralston Road will head to France next month as he gears up towards a tilt at the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot.

Pat Shanahan's hardy stayer enjoyed himself at Meydan over the winter when he switched to the care of local trainer Satish Seemar, winning once and finishing a close fifth in the Dubai Gold Cup.

The four-year-old colt will again travel overseas for his next start, with Shanahan having identified the Group Two Prix Vicomtesse Vigier at Longchamp on May 25 as a suitable target.

The County Kilkenny handler said: "All being well, he will run in the mile-and-seven race in France next as that should suit him really well.

"After that, we'll definitely be looking to Ascot and the Gold Cup."
