Froome sixth in Catalunya

Chris Froome was sixth in the Volta a Catalunya as Lieuwe Westra won the final stage in Barcelona and Joaquim Rodriguez sealed overall victory.

With Westra part of a breakaway group up the road, all eyes were on the battle for the overall crown in the peloton.

Team Sky's David Lopez had led a late attack on the final lap of the stage but it was quickly covered by Tinkoff-Saxo's Alberto Contador and Tejay van Garderen of BMC Racing with Rodriguez is close attendance, and the contenders eventually came home in the same group to preserve Rodriguez's four-second lead over Contador.

Van Garderen took third, with Froome sixth, 17 seconds behind Rodriguez.
