Ascot deployed frost covers over the whole of the track on Saturday in an effort to protect next weekend's Victor Chandler Chase meeting.
With much of the country forecast to see temperatures drop markedly in the next few days, clerk of the course Chris Stickels has moved quickly in an attempt to offset the freeze.
The Grade One Victor Chandler is scheduled to see the neat appearance of Queen Mother Champion Chase favourite Sprinter Sacre.
Stickels said: "The covers are going down as we speak. The forecast looks challenging, we're due some light snow flurries possibly today and temperatures really drop from tomorrow morning.
"It could be at its worst on Monday and Tuesday with some snow. It looks like it will stay cold until Friday and it's unclear from there.
"You need to get the covers down before the frost kicks in to be effective."
