FT: Swansea 1 Derby 0

Swansea have moved up to third in the Championship table after Federico Bessone netted a late winner against Derby at the Liberty Stadium.

The hosts spurned a succession of chances and it looked as if Derby would hold on for a point until Bessone broke the deadlock in the 81st minute.

Swansea had earlier almost scored in the opening minutes when Nathan Dyer intercepted Gary Teale's pass before hitting the outside of the post.

Derby then went close as Jake Livermore fired wide, but the Swans looked the more likely scorers and Stephen Bywater kept out Craig Beattie's drive.

Swansea's wasteful finishing continued to hinder their search for a goal after the break as Ashley Williams headed over, while Bywater again saved Beattie's shot.

But the Welsh side finally made a breakthrough when Bessone raced onto Joe Allen's pass and found the top corner.
