FT: West Brom 4 Bristol City 1

West Brom cruised back to the top of the Championship as Bristol City were on the wrong end of a Hawthorns thumping.

The visitors never recovered from Jerome Thomas' third-minute opener, and rampant Albion ran in three more to end City's seven-match unbeaten run in fine style.

Thomas set the tone for a one-sided game with his third of the season, drilled low past Dean Gerken from distance.

And the Baggies' advantage was doubled nine minutes later, Chris Brunt matching his lovely first touch with an unerring finish from a tight angle to break his home duck.

Gary Johnson's side contributed to their own demise two minutes after half-time, Louis Carey firing into his own net after Simon Cox had lifted the ball over the onrushing Gerken.

Cox slid in seconds later to convert a cross from Marek Cech, and Paul Hartley's late free-kick was a mere statistic.
